Boston – The Davis Companies (“Davis”) announces that Jerry Murphy and Sean Coffey have been named managing directors of investments, reporting to chief investment officer, Quentin Reynolds.
In their new roles, Murphy and Coffey will be working closely with Reynolds in overseeing Davis’s team of 14 investment professionals, establishing investment strategy and future planning for the firm’s portfolio and new acquisition activity.
Since joining the firm over a decade ago, both Murphy and Coffey have played roles in strategically evolving and executing on the investment strategy for each of Davis’s funds, most recently on behalf of Davis Investment Venture Fund IV, which closed with total equity commitments of US $775.5 million in 2020.
Before joining Davis’s Investments team in 2012, Murphy worked at the Carlyle Group where he was involved in the management of investments that totaled approximately $1.3 billion of equity invested across multiple asset classes and markets, as well as real estate debt securities.
Prior to joining Davis in 2011, Coffey worked for TriSail Capital Corporation, where he was responsible for investments and asset management related to the company’s mezzanine debt and joint venture equity platforms. Over his career, Coffey has invested in transactions totaling approximately $4.0 billion in aggregate capitalization.
