Boston – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff as a winner of its 2017 Gold Engineering Excellence Award for work on the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) project.
WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff, with offices in Boston, was retained by the Smithsonian Institution to provide a sustainable building design for the NMAAHC located on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The museum houses nearly 37,000 historical artifacts, documents and photos that trace African-American history.
The 425,000sf, $500-million museum, a cultural and architectural landmark, has been designed to achieve LEED Gold certification from the USGBC.
The 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards were announced at the recent ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala with emcees Carol Gladstone, Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance and Commissioner Leo Roy of the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
