Manchester, Mass – Windover Construction recently announced that it received the Building Project of the Year Award from the New England Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). The award was presented in the New Construction category for the firm’s distinctive work on Warren House, a new dormitory completed for the Cambridge School of Weston. The project was a collaboration with the design team at Eck | MacNeely Architects inc.
Warren House is an 11,000 SF dormitory, including 24 student beds and three faculty apartments. In addition to the residential rooms and apartments, the building has a large common space with adjacent kitchenettes, a computer and group study room, summer storage space for students and faculty, outdoor community space and a large kitchen classroom. During the entire process, Windover focused on integrating eco-friendly materials and design elements, including composting toilets, LED lighting, and highly efficient heating and cooling with individual controls.
In its 19th year, the CMAA awards program strives to recognize individuals and businesses in the construction industry for outstanding performance in program management, infrastructure and building projects. The award was presented at a special luncheon. Former Senator Scott Brown addressed the crowd as the keynote speaker.
“Built on an active academic campus, this assignment required incredible attention to site logistics and scheduling,” said Stuart Meurer, Vice President of Windover Construction. “We are extremely proud of our team. This award is truly a reflection of their work ethic, creativity and expertise.”
