London, CT – Connecticut College chose Vision 3 Architects to renovate their servery in the campus’ main dining hall, Harris Dining. They wanted a modern and less institutional feel while remaining within a tight budget. Vision 3 developed an efficient, attractive concept providing a new image for an out of date servery. The new space is modern and fresh, and flow problems were eliminated where student bottlenecks interfered with ability to readily access spaces.
Vision 3 worked closely with the Construction Manager from the outset to ensure a design that met needs while remaining within budget. This team approach allowed us to work collaboratively at the concept/rendering phase to develop multiple estimates while meeting project priorities. We designed “alternates” to allow the client to prioritize their wants and needs and add or deduct scope as the project was priced out and under construction.
“Vision 3 visited the campus and spent time observing and experiencing the traffic during different times of the day, including peak hours. They truly listened to a mixed committee of people, such as, the Board Plan Manager, the Chef Manager, Senior Administration, and the students to understand their concerns and work together toward a solution. Even after Vision 3’s initial drawings, they still considered other options brought to their attention and had a real plug & play relationship. Vision 3 Architects was very easy to work with, flexible, helpful, and responded quickly when questions arose. From the start, we felt we could trust and collaborate with Vision 3’s design process and ability.”
