Watertown, MA – Vanderweil, a Boston based full-service engineering firm, recently completed the design of Bright Horizons Family Solutions corporate headquarters located in Watertown. Bright Horizons is an employer-sponsored childcare, early education and work/life solutions. Comprising space in three separate buildings at the historic Watertown Arsenal on the Charles River, the company’s corporate headquarters renovation project redistributes space within departments to provide a more efficient work environment.
Vanderweil collaborated with Boston based CBT Architects on the renovations to this 70,000sf corporate headquarters. Renovated spaces include new open and private offices, a new reception area, a “Town Square” conference center with moveable walls for flexibility and efficiency, multiple cafés, renovated core restrooms and relocated support spaces including mail sorting, copy/print and circulation spaces. Both design and construction were phased to enable continuity of operations for Bright Horizons.
As part of Vanderweil’s design, the existing MEP infrastructure was utilized to the fullest extent possible to reduce first costs and also minimize new materials required in support of sustainable practices. In addition to full MEP services, Vanderweil provided technology infrastructure services including the consolidation of the tel/data spaces into a main network room. In addition, utility rebates for high-efficiency lighting and lighting controls were pursued for this office space.
