Boston and Westfield, MA – Westfield State University trustees, students, faculty and staff recently celebrated the official opening of University Hall, a $55 million, 450-bed student residence. The design and construction team for the new LEED plus residence hall includes construction manager Walsh Brothers, project architect ADD Inc and owner’s project manager Diversified Project Management (DPM). TheMassachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA) funded the project.
The 5-story, 135,000 square foot University Hall accommodates 410 students living in single and double semi-suites with common living rooms and study lounges on each floor. The new residence hall was built with sustainability as a central project objective. Mechanical and electrical systems, abundant daylight and efficient lighting and utility equipment will translate to significant energy and water savings for the University. The project is designed to meet the standards for Massachusetts LEED plus specifications.
