Two Join Life Sciences Group

Boston – Shawmut Design and Construction announced that Thomas Ryan Perry and Leonard Silvia have joined the Company’s Life Sciences Group.
Perry, who will serve as senior project manager, has serviced an impressive roster of Life Science clients. Prior projects include the construction of a $204 million lab for Pfizer, a $175 million cGMP facility for Shire HGT, a $50 million research lab for Cubist Pharmaceuticals, a $32 million design/build conversion for ARE, a $31 million GMP fit-out for Merck and many others.
Silvia will serve as senior project estimator. He has provided pre-construction, cost estimating and value engineering services for a variety of well-known and high profile projects, including the Genzyme Operations Center in Northborough, the Draper Lab Clean Rooms in Cambridge, renovations at Shire HGT in Cambridge, various laboratory projects at Pfizer in Cambridge and North Andover and California Prison Healthcare, where he served as cost estimator for an $8 billion federally-mandated improvement project consisting of seven medical centers totaling 10,000 beds.
Shawmut’s Life Sciences Group is currently managing projects for Tufts University BSL-3 lab, Helicos and IGEM.
