Tocci Building Companies Begins Black Rock Church Expansion

Fairfield, CT – Tocci Building Companies has broken ground and begun construction on Black Rock Congregational Church’s $14 million 20,400SF expansion. The Fairfield, CT church will feature a new, 950-person Worship Center with state-of-the- art acoustic and video capabilities to serve its rapidly growing congregation and broadcast all its services, with completion scheduled for March 2014. The project also includes dramatic improvements to facilities for Adult Bible Study,Teen Worship, Youth Worship, and infant care.

Fairfield, CT – Tocci Building Companies has broken ground and begun construction on Black Rock Congregational Church’s $14 million 20,400SF expansion. The Fairfield, CT church will feature a new, 950-person Worship Center with state-of-the- art acoustic and video capabilities to serve its rapidly growing congregation and broadcast all its services, with completion scheduled for March 2014. The project also includes dramatic improvements to facilities for Adult Bible Study,Teen Worship, Youth Worship, and infant care.

“We see it as our mission to reach as many people as we possibly can for Christ, so the primary motivation is to have more space for more people to hear the Gospel,” said Ken Brix, the church’s Executive Director.

The project requires extensive renovation to bring the 50-year-old facility up to current standards. Construction will involve demolishing 16,000SF of the existing structure and blasting of ledge while also protecting adjacent woodlands.

Tocci is using Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to manage construction and ensure every element of the design considers the impact of costs and future expansion. Tocci was able to use value engineering and close collaboration with architect George Wiles of Wiles and
Associates are enabling Tocci to tightly control costs so the church can achieve its goals within its budget– an important factor as the Black Rock congregation and its church continue to grow.
