Project of the Year Awards

The Construction Institute’s Pride in Construction Project of the Year Awards recognize projects that
have been constructed in Massachusetts using union contractors and workers that have had a positive
impact on the construction industry, the community, and the clients we serve.

Fall River Justice Center – State Public Sector Project

The $85 million Fall River Justice Center – which serves as the new Superior and District Court in
Fall River, Massachusetts – was designed for LEED® Silver certification by Finegold Alexander &
Associates Inc., funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and built under a Project Labor
Agreement by Dimeo Construction Company with project oversight provided by the Division of Capital
Asset Management (DCAM). The entire construction process was a true collaboration between the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Courts’ system, the City of Fall River, the union community and
the design/construction team. As a result, the team made the very best use of public construction dollars
to achieve the lofty goals of the project.

Haystack Ultra-Wideband Satellite Imaging Radar (HUSIR) Antenna – Federal Public Sector

Buried in the tall evergreens of Westford, Massachusetts, the HUSIR antenna is clearly an engineering
and construction marvel The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)/Lincoln Laboratories (LL)
managed the project for the United States Air Force. Bond Brothers, Inc., Keystone Construction and

Hallamore Corporation were MIT/LL’s Construction Team. The HUSIR project defined teamwork. It
took engineers, managers, ironworkers, operators, millwrights, machinists, and even meteorologists, all
working together on a daily basis, to ensure that the work was performed correctly and safely.

The Carpenters Center – Private Sector Project

Construction of The Carpenters Center, located at 750 Dorchester Avenue, Boston, began in February
2009. The project was designed by ADD. Inc., with Suffolk Construction as the construction manager,
The Carpenters Center was an adaptive re-use of the property by renovating and converting the existing
building to house the new regional headquarters and training facility for the New England Regional
Council of Carpenters (NERCC) and the Boston Carpenters Training Fund.. The building was designed
with input from the community and compliments the neighborhood’s architectural character.
