The MBTA and the City of Revere recently celebrated the opening of the South Parking Garage and Intermodal Transit Center at the Wonderland Station on the Blue Line. Arrowstreet led the design for the seven-level, 1,500 car parking facility and new entrance to the Wonderland subway station. Tall glass elements and a vibrant palette welcome residents, commuters, and other guests and bring a lively splash of color to this Revere building.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Saturday, June 30th, and was attended by MassDOT Secretary & CEO Richard A. Davey, Revere Mayor Daniel Rizzo, U.S. Rep. Ed Markey, State Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, Revere City Councilor at large Anthony Zambuto, and former Mayor Tom Ambrosino, among many others from the Revere community.

“The new garage, the bus way, the improved roadway signals along Route 1A all increase connectivity for drivers, transit riders, pedestrians and cyclists. While these changes are essential and noticeable, it is the future growth to come that will be beneficial for new residents and businesses and a great achievement for the Patrick-Murray Administration,” said Richard A. Davey.

Arrowstreet is currently acting as design consultant on behalf of the MBTA and City of Revere for the construction of a foot bridge and transit infrastructure adjacent to the recently completed garage. When complete, the bridge will link the garage and T station to Revere Beach for easy pedestrian access.

“The progress towards realizing the shared vision of Waterfront Square at Revere Beach is astonishing in this economy,” said George Tremblay, Arrowstreet’s principal-in-charge of the project. “The direct connection to the beach along an exciting and active “street path” literally manifests the project’s tagline of ‘steps to the beach and minutes to downtown.’ ”
