Boston – Shawmut Design and Construction, located at 560 Harrison Avenue in Boston, has announced the hiring of two key executives as part of the Company’s growth strategy for 2013 and beyond. Susan Gray has been chosen as Director of Strategic Marketing for the Company’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island markets focusing on Shawmut’s project proposal process; industry event representation; and enhancing relationships with new and existing clients and architects. Julie Brown has been named Director of Academic Business Development and will
be tasked with establishing new relationships and reinforcing Shawmut’s current partnerships in the Massachusetts academic sector.
Gray joins Shawmut after serving as Director of Corporate Communications for Hybrid Parking Garages, a national parking garage design builder. With an extensive background in the building community, Gray is a former Vice President and Director of Marketing at Suffolk Construction and was the first recipient of the SMPS Boston Marketing Executive of the Year Award. Gray holds her BSBA from Georgetown University and her MBA from Boston University. In her new role, Gray will be responsible for Shawmut’s marketing efforts in the Academic, Commercial, Cultural and Historic Preservation, Healthcare, Public Works, and Tenant Interior sectors in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Julie Brown is a 13-year veteran of the industry, most recently serving as Director of Client Services for Tocci Building Companies and formerly serving as Director of Client Development for Higher Education at Sasaki Associates. She is active in many industry associations including the Society of College and University Planners, International Facility Management Association, and the Boston Society of Architects, and holds a BS in Biology with a Minor in Business Administration from University of Hartford.
