Manchester, NH – Pro Con Inc of Manchester was honored with three awards at the “Excellence in Construction 2010” celebration hosted by The Associated Builders and Contractors of New Hampshire and Vermont (ABC NH/VT).
The Residence Inn by Marriot & Harbor Events Conference Center was recognized with an “Award of Excellence for Design Build” and the“Sustainable Building Award”. Pro Con Inc was the architect and construction manager for the hotel and the conference center which have achieved LEED® Silver certification from the US Green Building Council.
The Residence Inn is the first LEED® certified hotel and the Harbor Events Center is first LEED® certified event center in New Hampshire.The five-story, 96,000sf Residence Inn by Marriott hotel has 128-suites and12,000sf of street level retail space. The Harbor Events and Conference Center, which is adjacent to the Residence Inn hotel and joined via a common corridor, is a full service conference and event facility.
The 65,795sf Courtyard by Marriott in Keene, which was honored with an “Award of Merit for Design Build,” is part of Railroad Square, a mixed–use development consisting of office, retail and residential space, located one block from the downtown business district. The LEED® Silver five-story hotel has 100 guestrooms, including four executive suites, a bistro and full service lounge, business center, guest market, indoor pool and fitness center. The hotel has 2100sf of flexible meeting space for up to 200 persons and a commercial kitchen.
Sustainable features of the Courtyard hotel include: 40% of new construction materials purchased were made with recycled materials, 31% of the construction materials came from within a 500 mile radius of the project, over-sized operable, low–e windows with insulated glazing were installed, low volatile organic compound (VOC) products were used in construction, low flow plumbing fixtures were installed, energy efficient lighting was installed and exterior fixtures are controlled by photo sensors and back of the house rooms are equipped with occupancy sensing controls, each guest room is equipped with a localized energy management system, a white TPO heat-reducing reflective roof system reflects 88% of the sun’s energy and eliminates “heat islands” and all the cooling and refrigerants use non CFC (Chlorofluorocarbons) refrigerants
