Submitted by O&G Industries

O&G Industries, a family-owned company headquartered in Torrington, Conn., is commemorating its centennial year as the state’s largest privately-owned construction management firm. The Building Group has accomplished an impressive year, marking significant milestones in education with the opening of five new schools, including the $44 million Frank D. Spaziano Elementary in Providence, R.I., which marks their first vertical construction project in the area.

The Group has also managed other education projects throughout Connecticut, including the $82.5 million, 148,122sf New Fairfield High School in New Fairfield, Conn., designed by JCJ Architecture, and the 110,000sf Ox Ridge Elementary School, a joint venture with A.P. Construction in Darien, designed by SLAM. Additionally, they oversaw construction of the 148,855sf, $78 million Candlewood Lake Elementary School in Brookfield, Conn., designed by Tecton, as well as the 65,000sf Bowers Elementary School renovation and addition project in Manchester, which is their second Manchester Public School project that achieved net zero energy designed by TSKP Studio.

The Group broke ground on the Keeney Elementary School, the third Manchester school designed to achieve net zero energy by TSKP Studio, after the completion of the Buckley Elementary school, which received industry recognition including the CREW CT Award of Excellence for Sustainable Education, Sustainable Architecture Excellence Award, Sustainable Architecture Commendation for Implementation of an All-Electric Commercial Kitchen, Sustainable Architecture Commendation for Interactive Learning Features, and Design Merit Award.

Meanwhile, the Group continues to make tremendous progress on two of the state’s most significant high school projects – Torrington Middle/High School and Farmington High School – with both projects topping off earlier this year. Additionally, the Group broke ground on the UCONN South Campus Infrastructure project, a $73 million undertaking engineered by Silas O’Brien and designed by Sasaki Architects to support the new South Campus Residence and Dining Hall currently under construction. The project commenced in July and is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.

In the healthcare sector, the Group’s Healthcare Division completed phases one and two of a renovation at New Milford Hospital, a $1.2 million, 5,792sf project designed by H&R Design that encompassed two separate departments: the Cardiac Rehabilitation Gym and the Primary Care Unit. Phase three is underway and includes completing additional exam rooms and support staff offices.

Looking ahead to 2024, O&G’s Building Group is poised to have one of its best years yet, with numerous new projects coming on board and the completion of several others. O&G Industries is committed to providing top-quality construction services while upholding its long-standing reputation for excellence in the industry.
