Holyoke, Ma – Diversified Project Management (DPM), a Newton, MA-based owner’s representative recently completed the construction of Holyoke’s new $8.1M Senior Center located at 291 Pine Street in Holyoke, MA.

Sitting on the former Holyoke High School and McHugh School property, the new, 20,000 SF Senior Center boasts all new amenities including an exercise area, assembly hall and a full service cafeteria – all with increased accessibility.  A dramatic change from the old facility, which was the basement of the City’s War Memorial Building on Appleton Street, the new center will continue to serve the community’s growing aging population with health and wellness activities, social services, seminars, luncheons and a wide assortment of activities and games.

“It was an outstanding effort on behalf of all members of the project team,” said DPM Project Executive Frank Kennedy who, along with Senior Project Manager, Tim Singleton, and Construction Site Manager, Michael McElligott, provided comprehensive pre-construction and construction management services including site-selection due diligence and oversight of local permits and approvals.  The team, including Catlin Architects, Sam Zax Associates/VAV International Engineers and Delphi Construction, worked closely with Holyoke’s Council on Aging and the Building Committee to deliver a first-class facility, which will serve the community for decades to come.

A result of tireless fundraising efforts and donations from several notable institutions, the new facility, which is viewed by many as a labor of love and dedication, opened on December 3rd.  Kathy Bowler, director of Holyoke’s Council on Aging, remarked, “It was a long term collaborative effort to bring our vision to reality.”

The grand opening ceremony, which took place on February 23rd, was attended by over 100 enthusiastic community members.

DPM has recently completed a similar project for the Town of Natick, MA, is currently managing Westfield’s new Senior Center and has been selected to manage the new Senior Center in the town of Sterling, MA.
