Boston, MA – Mayor Thomas M. Menino recently joined the Boston Harbor Island Alliance for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. A number of local, state and national dignitaries will be joining Mayor Menino, including: Congressman Michael E. Capuano; Bruce Jacobson, Superintendent, Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, National Park Service; Jeffrey Mullan, Secretary and CEO, MassDOT; Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Ian Bowles; Thomas B. Powers, President, Boston Harbor Island Alliance; Joel M. Reck, Chairman, Boston Harbor Island Alliance Board of Directors; and Nancy Brennan, Executive Director, Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy.
Slated to open in spring 2011, the Pavilion will serve as a gateway to the Boston Harbor Islands national park, offering visitors park information and ferry tickets.
