Worcester, MA – The Melvin S. Cutler Charitable Foundation, a philanthropic organization
established by design-build entrepreneur Mel Cutler has announced a number of recent gifts. The
Foundation focuses on providing financial support to organizations that assist at-risk members of the
community.
“We are pleased to make these gifts to local organizations” said Mr. Cutler. “We know the support
these groups provide to those most at-risk, have a significant impact on those lives and their ability to
become independent, contributing members of the community.”
The donations include:
$15,000 to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter to help provide emergency shelter and transitional
housing for men and women veterans. Since 1991, the organization has helped more than 40,000
veterans and their families in Central Massachusetts.
$10,000 to Abby’s House, a multi-service organization in Worcester, Massachusetts that serves
homeless and battered women and children, empowering them to lead self-directed lives filled with
dignity and hope.
$10,000 to the United Way to support its critical role in the community of helping those in need. As
a community leader, the United Way convenes local resources – donors, volunteers, partners, and
agencies to address the most critical human needs.
$7,500 to the Worcester County Food Bank to support its mission of providing relief from hunger.
The agency collects, stores, and distributes food through a network of 163 partner agencies to help
feed hungry people living in 60 cities and towns in Central Massachusetts.
$2,500 to the Worcester Youth Center, an educational, recreational, and social facility for youth
between the ages of 14-24 is a place where local youth are empowered and allowed to grow in all
aspects of their lives to enable them to become vital, responsible, and contributing members of
society.
Mel Cutler of Clearwater Florida established Cutler Associates (www.cutlerassociatesinc.com), a design-
build construction firm headquartered in Worcester, MA and operating in New England, Pennsylvania,
and Florida. He also founded Cutler Capital Management LLC (www.cutlercapital.com), an investment
firm specializing in convertible securities and real estate investment trust with offices in Clearwater and
Worcester.
In 1980, he founded the Melvin S. Cutler Foundation as a way to create a positive, long-lasting impact
on the communities his companies serve. The mission of the Foundation is to enhance and enrich
community programs that promote independence and self-sufficiency for their clients.
