Wareham, MA – The A.D. Makepeace Company breaks ground this month on the first building at Rosebrook Place, and a second groundbreaking ceremony will follow in September. Rosebrook Place is a new retail/mixed-use development conveniently situated on Route 28 at the I-495/I-195 interchange.
The first building will house Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank’s first full-service branch off Cape Cod. The 2,300 square-foot building will also house a coffee shop and office.
Meanwhile, Lafrance Hospitality Group of Westport, MA is planning a 90-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott for the Rosebrook Place site, and will start construction by fall.
“This is a unique property full of interesting contrasts,” said Michael P. Hogan, president and CEO of the A.D. Makepeace Company. “It features easy highway access and bucolic views of cranberry bogs, Cape Cod amenities without the Cape traffic, and an agrarian feel with state-of-the-art building elements.”
The Makepeace Company is the world’s largest cranberry grower, and a 30-acre working bog purchased in 1922 has been integrated into the Rosebrook Place site design, connecting the retail property with nearby Rosebrook Business Park, 190,000-square-foot office park whose first building, housing Southcoast Hospital Group and Fresenius Medical Care, opened in 2011. Makepeace is the largest private property owner in eastern Massachusetts, with some 14,000 acres of land in Wareham, Plymouth, Carver, and Rochester.
The bank building at Rosebrook Place was designed by Brown Lindquist Fennucio & Raber Architects of Yarmouthport, MA, and construction is by J.K. Scanlan Company of East Falmouth,MA. The hotel is being designed by Opechee Construction Corporation of Belmont, NH, and a general contractor has not been selected.
Site work at this location, designed by Beals and Thomas of Southborough, MA, is being done by
KR Rezendes Inc. of Assonet, MA.
Rosebrook Place will also include another 30,000 square feet of retail space and 36 apartments.
