Farmington, CT – KBE Building Corporation (KBE) has won the coveted Safety, Training and Evaluation Process (S.T.E.P.) Platinum Level Safety Award, the highest-level safetyawards given by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). This marks the eighth consecutive year KBE has been awarded the distinction, which recognizes companies that exhibit an allegiance to keeping their workforce highly trained and significantly educated in the day-to-day process of safety guidelines. In prior years, KBE has been recognized with Gold and Silver Level STEP awards.
Safety is a top priority for KBE, with detailed safety programs in place at both its Maryland and Connecticut operations. Earlier this year, KBE signed its second Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance and Partnership agreement. The strategic partnership is with both the State of Connecticut Department of Labor, Division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (ConnOSHA) and the federal OSHA Bridgeport Area Office (BAO). The partnership establishes a formal cooperative effort between the organizations, and focuses on continuous improvements to safety and health performance. . Under the agreement KBE also received training and guidance from ConnOSHA and the BAO.
“KBE’s S.T.E.P. award exemplifies their ongoing dedication to the safety and training of construction workers which enhances the quality of life for workers in the construction industry,” said Lelah Campo, President of the Connecticut Chapter of ABC. “KBE is successful with its safety program because of a shared belief, from its superintendents in the field to the leadership team in its offices, that the safety and health of their employees and their subcontractor’s employees is paramount.”
“We continue to focus on ways to improve our safety performance each day and all of this is a tribute to our corporate safety director, Mike Capazzi,” said KBE President and CEO Mike Kolakowski. “I am proud of what we have accomplished over the years and my expectation is that we should perform at this level every day we have people out in the field and in our offices. Having an injury-free workforce and worksites requires a firm commitment to safety. I continue to see that level of commitment from all KBE associates.”
