Concord, NH – Tom Kane has joined IRN – The Recycling Network to manage IRN’s construction and demolition recycling program.

Tom has been in the New England recycling industry for nearly 30 years, and he’s done more than any other individual to develop northern New England markets for construction and demolition wastes. From 1994 through 2011 Tom was the recycling business manager at Commercial Paving & Recycling in Scarborough, ME. In that capacity Tom developed recycling capabilities for many different materials including shingles, asphalt, brick, concrete, wood waste, and gypsum wallboard. Tom’s was the first plant in New England to handle painted gypsum, one of the most troublesome C&D materials to recycle.

“Tom knows construction,” says Dana Draper, IRN’s COO. “He knows his way around a jobsite; he knows how buildings go up and how they come down; he knows just about every end market and hauler from Providence to Bangor. In other words, he knows our business as well as we do. We couldn’t be happier to have Tom on board.”

Tom will be managing IRN’s program to reuse and recycle as much as 99% of the wastes generated during construction, demolition, and renovation. With successful experience on more than 125 projects, a large part of IRN’s work falls under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, where IRN routinely secures up to five LEED credits for their clients.

“I’m looking forward to moving upstream to where the rubber really hits the road, out on the jobsite,” says Tom. “I know IRN is the best in the business, and I’m happy and excited to be part of the IRN team.”
