Raymond, NH – Less than a year after the Hopkinton DPW Garage was destroyed by fire and only 90 days after town residents approved a bond to finance its rebuilding, Jewett Construction Company, Inc. has finished erecting the steel for a new 13,750sf, energy efficient building at 330 Main Street –one designed to house town equipment, offices, restrooms/ locker rooms and a mezzanine for additional storage.
Strategically placed to take advantage of natural light and passive solar gain, the completed building will feature radiant heating in the concrete slab flooring, as well as an innovative wood chip boiler heating system with an exterior storage silo for wood chips. A secondary propane heat and cooling source will also be installed. The exterior will be of energy efficient insulated wall and roof panels. The project will be complete by Labor Day.
Jewett is no stranger to green building, having recently completed a LEED-certified, 77,000 sf, energy-efficient Toyota dealership for the Grappone Auto Group of Bow—a renovation that included thirty-two 400-foot-deep geothermal wells for heating/cooling, thirty-six water source heat pumps, seven recycling stations, and two electric vehicle charging stations.
