Boston, MA – IFMA Boston Healthcare Network will present Impactful capital: A proven approach for identifying the facility investments, even those with higher first costs, that produce the most meaningful results May 21, 2013 at Children’s Hospital 1 Autumn Street, Boston. Speakers include John D’Angelo VP Engineering and Facilities Operations, New York Presbyterian Hospital and Karen Reno, Safe Health Design Managing Consultant
Joint Commission Resources, Inc.
Surveys show that, more often than not, the healthcare industry makes financial decisions on the scope of construction projects based on initial cost rather than long term value. The goal of the program will be to demonstrate how financial decisions made based on long term value rather than initial cost are more beneficial to patient care and a healthcare organization’s financial stability. The format for this Program will help:
– make the argument for long term value through a discussion involving healthcare standards and statistics and financial attitudes.
– Understand the benefits of financial decision making based on long-term operational goals rather than initial capital cost through built environment efficiency.
– Discuss the built environment impact on improved patient outcomes that provide financial payback.
– Discuss Post-Occupancy evaluation (POE) results from a strategic financial decisions perspective from actual case studies.
The IFMA Healthcare Network Co-Chairs are Sandra Soraci – DAI – DiGiorgio Associates Inc. / Director, Healthcare Strategy & Interior Designand Alison Faecher – TRO Jung Brannen / Associate Principal, Director of Interior Design.
