IBEW Local 103 Member Receive Associate Degree at Wentworth Summer Commencement

Boston, MA – Nine members of IBEW Local 103 received an Associate Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. WIT held its Summer Commencement ceremony on Sunday, August 25, at the Bank of America Pavilion. The Institute awarded 549 Bachelor of Science degrees and 17 Associate in Applied Science degrees to 566 students.

Boston, MA –  Nine members of IBEW Local 103 received an Associate Degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. WIT held its Summer Commencement ceremony on Sunday, August 25, at the Bank of America Pavilion. The Institute awarded 549 Bachelor of Science degrees and 17 Associate in Applied Science degrees to 566 students.

The IBEW Local 103 members who received degrees included: Kimberly Adams, Lynn Brennan, Michael Crowley, Thomas Hurley, Brian Ingalls, Stephen Ingalls, James Kane, Kevin Lawler and Michael Scapicchio.

James Thomas Kane Jr. (Engineering Technology) who is also a Bachelor Degree candidate was recognized with an Alumni Award for achieving the highest grade point average in the program. Kane said, “This is something I always wanted. I credit IBEW Local 103 for opening this door to further my education. The classes were offered nights and weekends so it was possible to take classes while juggling responsibilities of being a father of two children with a full-time job.”

Michael Monahan, Business Manager, IBEW Local 103, said, ” We are so proud of all the graduates who have taken advantage of the educational opportunities provided by IBEW Local 103 and WIT. This is a tremendous achievement for our graduates who have successfully completed their degrees while working full-time and juggling family responsibilities.”

 Lloyd Carney, chief executive officer of Brocade Communications and an electrical engineering technology alumnus from the class of 1984, was the commencement speaker and acknowledged that “as graduates of Wentworth Institute of Technology, you’ve taken a major step in your preparation for success.” He ended with advice to the graduates to “Make the most of your good fortune.”
