Groundbreaking Held for “The Residence of Riverbend”

Ipswich Ma – Officials from The Congress Companies and LCB Senior Living, LLC, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 to mark the commencement of construction of The Residence at Riverbend, a $13M Assisted Living project at 149 County Road in Ipswich, MA. Located on the site of the former Marguery Restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 1975, The Residence at Riverbend is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.

Located on the site of the former Marguery Restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 1975, The Residence at Riverbend is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.

The Congress Companies, a full service construction firm based in Peabody, MA will provide Construction Management services for the project, which will be owned and operated by LCB Senior Living, LLC of Norwood, MA.

Congress and LCB have donated more than two acres of riverfront land to the Ipswich River Watershed Association. As part of this plan, a trail will be built for public use for direct access to the Ipswich River and additional open space land will be placed in a permanent conservation restriction.

“We are very pleased to be involved with this project and are grateful for the tremendous support we’ve received from the community. As the only Assisted Living development in Ipswich, we are helping to fill a need for senior care and housing in this area. The project will also provide tax benefits to the Town of Ipswich, plus public access to and the preservation of large amounts of riverfront, among other features,” noted William Nicholson, CEO of The Congress Companies.

The Residence at Riverbend will be situated on a 15-acre site that stretches from County Road to the Ipswich River. Designed by The Architectural Team (TAT) of Chelsea, MA, the 73,674 SF, 83-bed Assisted Living community will feature 53 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units for traditional Assisted Living and Independent Living, and 22 studio and shared units in a Memory Care wing for residents with early Alzheimer’s Disease and other memory impairments.

The Memory Care wing will offer specialized care and cognitive programming and a full range of daily services and activities as well as a spacious, secure outdoor area for recreation.

Guests attending the groundbreaking ceremony included Robin Crosbie, Ipswich Town Manager, Wayne Castonguay, Executive Director of the Ipswich River Watershed Association, Sheila Taylor, Director of the Ipswich Council on Aging, Lewis Pearlson, Stephen Puliafico and Michael Stoller Principals of LCB Senior Living, Michael Liu, Principal of The Architectural Team, and William Nicholson of The Congress Companies.
