North Haven, CT – Representatives from the Middle School Building Committee, town officials, state legislators, middle school students, and Gilbane, a builder in Connecticut since 1944, broke ground recently for construction of a two-story 97,000sf classroom addition to the North Haven Middle School.
The addition, Phase 1 of the expansion and renovation project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2016.
Phases 2 and 3 encompass the renovation of nearly 50,000sf of the existing middle school, including the gymnasium, cafeteria, music, and administration areas. Phase 4 includes the construction of new athletic fields in 2017.
“We are thrilled to be working with the town of North Haven to renovate and expand this educational facility for the students while working with the town leaders, the community, and our partners on this project,” said John Hawley, vice president and Connecticut business unit leader. “Today’s school facilities require more technology and flexibility, maximizing all aspects of building sustainability, energy, and resource efficiency.”
