GEI Consultants Promotes Seven

Boston, MAGEI Consultants, Inc. announced today that it has promoted seven individuals within the firm.

“GEI is proud to announce the promotion of seven talented and hard-working individuals from across the company who show initiative and leadership in their specialized areas of expertise,” said Ray Hart, P.E., G.E., chief operating officer for GEI Consultants.

Nancy A. Copley, P.E., LEED AP, project manager, has more than 13 years of experience as an engineer, project manager, and staff manager in geotechnical, environmental, karst and construction monitoring projects. Her geotechnical experience includes tunnels, pipelines, buildings, dams, bridges, highways, rock cut stabilizations, earth-retaining systems, problem soils and a variety of ground improvement techniques. She performs forensic investigations and provides litigation and insurance claim support. Nancy joined GEI in May of 2008 and is a LEED accredited professional. She received a bachelor’s degree in geotechnical and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994 and obtained a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1999. She is located in GEI’s Washington, D.C. office.

Mark Hargrove, P.E., senior engineer, has more than ten years of experience in designing water resource projects such as water conveyance pipelines, canals and pumping plants. Mark received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California State University, Sacramento in 1998. He is located in GEI’s Sacramento, California office.

Ryan S. Hoffman, P.G., project manager, has more than twelve years of experience investigating and remediating contaminated sites, providing construction support, and performing due diligence assessment and pre-construction evaluations involving brownfields, former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites, and industrial, educational, and medical facilities. He is familiar with Massachusetts environmental regulations and Federal regulations including TSCA and RCRA. Ryan received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Colgate University in 1996 and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1998. He is located in GEI’s Boston, Massachusetts office.

Jeanne A. Lefebvre, P.E., project manager, is a registered professional engineer who joined GEI in 1999 and has more than 10 years of experience in geotechnical analysis and design, foundation engineering, construction monitoring, subsurface explorations, and forensic investigations. She has also been involved in the design and construction of highways, bridges, buildings, earth retaining structures, slopes, dams, landfills and utility projects. Jeanne received a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1997 in 1999, respectively. She is located in GEI’s Boston, Massachusetts office.

Lorena Ospina, senior water quality consultant/project manager, has eleven years of experience in environmental consulting. Her focus includes surface and groundwater quality treatment and distribution system optimization, as well as water resource planning. Her expertise includes developing drought management, urban water management plans (UWMP), urban water quality management, and integrated regional water management plans (IRWMP). Ms. Ospina has developed over eight UWMP and has contributed in the development of two major IRWMP. Ms. Ospina’s expertise also includes the development of successful state and federal grant applications for various clients. For example, recently Ms. Ospina successfully acquired $5 M in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funds for GEI clients. In total, she has acquired over $20 M in Proposition 50, ARRA, and Proposition 84 Funds. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, and is located in GEI’s Glendale, California office.

Melissa Shaffer, regional marketing manager for GEI’s Atlantic Region, has worked for GEI since 2001. She is responsible for supporting all marketing and business development efforts including creating marketing materials and proposals, developing GEI’s brand and market positioning, leading regional media relations activities, and identifying new market trends and opportunities. Melissa received a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of William and Mary in 1995 and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS). She is located in GEI’s Hartford, Connecticut office.

Donghai Wang, Ph.D., P.E., senior engineer, is a civil engineer with eleven years of experience in information management system, GIS, computer modeling and water resources management. His expertise includes database management, web-based GIS application, GIS data development and management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, decision support system, information integration, and water resources management. He is the lead developer for several California state wide information management systems, including the State’s integrated flood information system, California Levee and Stream Information System (CLASIS), and Integrated Water Resources Information System (IWRIS). He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical and environmental engineering from Beijing Institute of Light Industry in 1994, a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Tsinghua University in 1997, and a doctorate in hydrology and water resources from the University of Arizona in 2002. He is located in GEI’s Sacramento, California office.
