Boston, MA – EYP Architecture & Engineering was recently selected by Rollins College, Winter Park, FL, to provide a program and conceptual design for the renovation of its 100,000-square-foot Bush Science Center.
A three-story facility that currently houses Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Psychology and Computer Science, the Bush Science Center was originally built in 1968. Since its construction, however, the facility has received limited renovations. The study, which will be completed in fall 2010, will better provide for the College’s current and anticipated needs. EYP is partnering with Rollins to define requirements for an interdisciplinary science facility that will successfully integrate the sciences into the Rollins academic experience.
“One of the reasons EYP was chosen is because they are very knowledgeable about science buildings,” said Rollins’ Director of Facilities Management Scott Bitikofer. “The renovation of our Science Center is a concrete step for us as we look to advance in the important field of STEM education.”
Founded in 1885, Rollins College is a 3,300-student liberal arts college located in picturesque Winter Park, on the outskirts of Orlando, FL. It is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the #1 master’s level university in the southern United States.
