With offices in Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C., BJAC provides design to healthcare, education, research and municipal clients, along with a broad range of in-depth services, including architectural design, programming, master planning, healthcare master planning and interior design. Nationally recognized and expertise-based, EYP Architecture & Engineering is an integrated architecture and engineering firm specializing in sustainable design for higher education, government and corporate clients. Honored with numerous national awards, one of the firm’s primary focuses is on critical and relevant research into improving the performance of all types of facilities. EYP has offices in Albany; Boston; Greenville, S.C., New York City; Orlando, Fla., and Washington, D.C.

The new partnership, marking EYP’s commitment to growth in North Carolina, will combine EYP’s strength in research and expertise-driven design with BJAC’s extensive healthcare and medical education design portfolio. The combined firm will be led by EYP President and CEO Tom Birdsey, AIA LEED AP, and BJAC Founding Partner Lou Jurkowski, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C.

“The EYP/BJAC partnership perfectly aligns with EYP’s commitment to expertise-driven design,” said Birdsey. “Through this partnership, we add depth and breadth to our areas of expertise and provide BJAC clients access to expanded resources and new areas of expertise. We work for many of the best clients in the world, and BJAC is located in a market rich in higher education, research and healthcare institutions. Beyond geographic expansion, this partnership represents a natural cultural fit for EYP. BJAC’s approach to client service and commitment to quality closely mirrors our own, and its collaborative process complements the integrated project delivery procedures at EYP. Combining a talented group of industry professionals from both firms will give our teams the opportunity to work on more diverse projects, and expand the base of knowledge and expertise we offer all of our clients.”

Jurkowski said, “We wanted to form a strategic partnership that looked to the future with a respected peer that would maintain BJAC’s core values of strong client relationships, knowledge-based design and an employee-centric organization. EYP is the perfect match.” She added, “In an industry where expertise and reputation for quality are critical, EYP has a long and distinguished track record. Best of all, our two firms are ideally matched in terms of cultures, markets and geographies, and we share the same long-term vision for the future.”
