ELA: Ecological Land Care; Integrating Horticulture with Ecology

“Ecological Land Care sounds easy, but as we learn, actually integrating horticulture with ecology takes time and patience.  This session will help us understand how we, as gardeners, can meld horticulture and ecology practices to impact gardens and ecosystems positively.  We will also explore why traditional garden practices (i.e., mulching for aesthetics, overuse of synthetic fertilizers, tilling, and creating space between plants) generally have a negative impact on native plant gardens, as well as creating a cycle of excessive inputs.  Together we will explore methods to make one’s garden more biodiverse and ecologically sustainable!”
