AIA CT: Defining a Case for Electrification

Program Description:
To provide AEC professionals an overview and a primer for electrification and to get an understanding of what the state of play is right now in CT and the New England region. A discussion on what the role of architects is in the design of projects and how they can educate clients.  Attendees will come away with a better understanding of current electrification standard and will be able to have the discussions needed to promote change and to set examples for their projects and clients. Presenters will provide an introduction of the Inflation Reduction Act, what is included in the act and how that can translate in the AEC profession.

Learning Objectives:

  • To define what electrification is and why we need it, and to summarize the benefits of building electrification
  • To provide the information necessary to understand why the A/E/C industry should be advocating for electrification?
  • To explain the equity involved with electrification and why it’s important.
  • To define what the grid is and how it works and whether the grid can handle electrification
  • To define and explain what ISO New England is?
