Waltham, MA – Energy Credit Union’s new corporate headquarters and branch location in West Roxbury involved the renovation of an existing oil company facility into a modern office space which replaced their existing corporate headquarters in Waltham.
Energy CU and Strategic Designworks of Reading selected Delphi Construction, a Waltham based construction management firm as the project’s Construction Manager. Doug George, LEED AP, Senior Vice President of Strategic Designworks and the Project Manager for the ECU project said, “Delphi became an integral team member and provided outstanding craftsmanship that brought to life all of the design elements.”
Janice Gorman, LEED Accredited Professional and Senior Interior Designer stated, “We captured the openness and community focused view of Energy Credit Union’s president, Paul Noce and his staff by creating open spaces through such elements as large windows, rich inviting tones, and interesting floor and ceiling textures.” Senior Architect Peter Gutting stated, “The design challenge was in using the existing facility in such a way as to make it functional for the Credit Union and their members, and be attractive and aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding community.”
Gutting created an exterior view of the building that weaves together exciting contemporary elements while treating the existing structure with respect. The three dimensional painted steel trellis transforms a previously non-descript exterior into a structure that is visible, solid and evokes a welcoming presence.
While the space requirements included member areas as well as retail and private offices, the continuity of textures, colors, and materials provides an inviting, aesthetically pleasing, and functional space.
Partnering with signage manufacturer Sunshine Signs out of North Grafton, a creative and eye-catching exterior and interior sign package was developed and implemented.
