Construction Institute’s Second Oktoberfest Energizes 2011-2012 Season in Fairfield County

West Hartford, CT – November 1, 2011 – For the second year in a row, the University of Hartford Construction Institute (CI) Fairfield County Task Force held their annual Fairfield County Oktoberfest event on October 27 at the Sono Brewhouse in Historic South Norwalk, Connecticut. Despite stormy weather outside, the first event of the 2011-2012 season was a resounding success and helped to kick off the Institute’s programs and workshops planned in the Fairfield County region.

In total, approximately 120 CI members, ‘future’ members, and guests attended from all over Connecticut and enjoyed a worthwhile evening of good food, drink, networking, and a brief overview of what the Institute, and its Fairfield County Task Force, has planned for the upcoming season.

“On behalf of the CI Fairfield County Task Force, I would like to sincerely thank so many individuals, companies, and vendors for making our 2nd Annual Oktoberfest event such a huge success,” stated George Perham, Chair of the Task Force and Vice President of Antinozzi Associates in Bridgeport. “Since we started in November 2009, the Task Force continues to regularly meet and strategize ways in which we can expand upon our mission to bring the Institute’s programs, workshops and networking events into Fairfield County. Since our major goal is to increase membership in this region, attaining new members and retaining existing ones are the results of bringing events closer to where we work and live.”

This year’s Oktoberfest event offered a preview to the many CI opportunities coming to Fairfield County. According to Perham, Fairfield County is poised to continue hosting several successful educational workshops, seminars and social events. “Five half-day workshops are planned over the next few weeks, with more scheduled in early 2012. In addition, 2012 will see Fairfield County continuing to host an Owner’s Forum and the annual I-95 Corridor Regional Construction Forecast in March, as well as a 2nd Annual Spring Social on May 10.” More details can be found on the Construction Institute’s website at www.construction.org.

The Construction Institute welcomes any Fairfield County company in the design or construction industry to become part of the organization. Companies interested in becoming more involved should contact George Perham at (203) 377-1300 or gperham@antinozzi.com.
