Wethersfield, Connecticut. Moser Pilon Nelson Architects was awarded the 2011 Connecticut AIA People’s Choice Award for a Commercial/Industrial project. The award was for the new 42,000 SF Indian Valley Family YMCA facility that includes an 8-lane, 25-yard competition pool and a warm water family pool and whirlpool. The Ellington, Connecticut facility also includes a 5,000 SF fitness area plus spinning and aerobic rooms and associated support spaces. “I am honored that we received the People’s Award for the Indian Valley YMCA” states James D. Bell, AIA, ACHA, Principal of Moser Pilon Nelson and Project Architect for the project. He also adds, “Since it opened in August of 2010, the YMCA has been a huge success. Membership has far exceeding expectations. The Indian Valley YMCA has truly developed into a community destination.” The Indian Valley Family YMCA is planned to allow for future expansion to over 65,000 SF which includes a gymnasium, teen center, climbing wall, and community spaces.
