Brighton, MA – City Kids, a youth education nonprofit founded by City Realty Group of Boston, recently participated in a “Reality Fair” at Brighton High School.
The event provided students with a crash course on financial responsibility and the realities of “adulting.” Organized by the Massachusetts Treasurer’s Office and Division of Banks in collaboration with Early Investors, the Reality Fair was a hands-on experience for teens who received a financial profile including an occupation with a set income, based on their career interests. Students visited interactive stations representing real-life expenses and financial decisions, designed to help them gain knowledge on managing finances. Booths staffed by industry experts covered rent, insurance, groceries, and investments, serving as a guide to educate students on the crucial aspects of budgeting and financial planning.
The City Kids and City Realty Group team guided students on housing decisions and provided insights into making informed choices in today’s housing market. Volunteers engaged with each student throughout the event, answering questions while facilitating learning.
“We are committed to helping students develop practical skills and knowledge that will prepare them for the financial realities of adulthood,” said Stephen Whalen, co-founder of City Kids and managing partner at City Realty Group. “We are thrilled to make an impact toward a positive future for youth and provide financial education on the real estate market for life after high school.”
