West Hartford, CT – The University of Hartford Construction Institute recently announced that they will officially kick-off their 2012-2013 season at their 3rd Annual Fairfield County Oktoberfest event on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Sono Brewhouse in South Norwalk. For event registration or sponsorship opportunities, go to http://construction.org/events/programs-and-events/ and look for the Oktoberfest link.
According to George Perham, Chairman of the Institute’s Fairfield County Task Force, over 100 CI members and their guests registered last year and shared an evening of seasonal fare and valuable networking. “The event offers both a recap and preview to the opportunities launched into Fairfield County since 2010. As we look to continually increase our membership, our Fairfield County effort is busy planning and hosting several successful educational programs and social events throughout 2012-2013,” stated Perham, who is also Vice President at Antinozzi Associates in Bridgeport.
Now in its third season, the Construction Institute (CI) Fairfield County continues to bring the University of Hartford-based organization’s programs, workshops, and networking events into southwestern Connecticut. Several notable events included the annual I-95 Regional Construction Forecast, market strategy programs based on the current economy, breakfast events on codes, cost estimating and technology-based topics, Owners’ Forums and Spring networking events. Additionally, Fairfield County members of the CI have co-organized tours and panel discussions with the New York Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS-NY). This past year’s tour and discussion was based on the new Chelsea Piers facility in Stamford.
In addition to the Oktoberfest event, known as one of the key networking events of the design and construction community in Fairfield County, several professional development events will be held in October and November. These morning workshops will be located in Bridgeport and Stratford.
The next two workshops of the 2012-2013 season will address the topics of project scheduling and cost estimating. The workshop “Basic Scheduling” will be held on Friday, October 12 at the office of Antinozzi Associates in downtown Bridgeport, and will cover scheduling theory, case studies, and computerized scheduling with MS Project. On Wednesday, October 24, the workshop “Estimating Fundamentals” will be held at the office of ENCON Heating & Air Conditioning in Stratford. This workshop will use real world examples and a case study to help participants learn new techniques to deliver optimum client estimates and proposals.
On Wednesday, November 14, the popular topic of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy will be presented at one of the Institute’s many technology breakfasts, also at ENCON’s office in Stratford. This breakfast event will discuss how businesses can invest in PV solar and other renewable energy credit programs.
