The Construction Institute’s “New Visions” series, which featured the “Making Smart Moves in a Down Market,” seminar last week in Bridgeport, Connecticut, will present a sustainable design and green practices seminar which will examine how ‘going green’ benefits the environment, and increases the profitability of a business or institution. The program features a panel of building owners, government agencies, and developers who are choosing to incorporate alternative designs that go beyond the minimum green-building requirements established by Connecticut’s Public Act 07-242. Through presentations and discussions, we will uncover why these organizations are making bold design and renovation decisions, how they justify the costs, and the resulting long-term financial and operational impacts.

This program will provide an understanding of both the regulations and the financial opportunities associated with sustainability, specifically: how to comply with current and future Connecticut building code requirements for sustainable design, how to develop an appreciation for the lifecycle financial benefits, how to create a culture of efficiency and sustainability, strategies for continued learning, and discussion with design teams regarding future projects.
