Keene, NH – The New Hampshire Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIANH) and the New Hampshire Architecture Foundation (NHAF) have announced the recipients of their jointly sponsored scholarship programs for New Hampshire residents. $1,000 grants were given to Michael Kulikowski of Merrimack, NH, who attends Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; Gina Fantoni of Derry, NH; Brent Gardner of Littleton, NH; and Alyssa Shramek of Derry, NH. Gina is a student at Norwich University, and Brent and Alyssa will both start their college career at Norwich this fall.
The AIANH-NHAF Scholarship has two grant categories, one for students who are currently enrolled or accepted to an accredited undergraduate or graduate professional architecture degree program; the other for students currently enrolled in or accepted to an accredited undergraduate program with a major in architecture or related field, such as landscape architecture, architectural history, architectural preservation, and planning. The four scholarships awarded this year were for students in undergraduate architecture degree programs.
The NHAF also awards Merit Book Awards to promising high school seniors enrolled in Career Technical Education programs or who have shown an interest in architecture. Examples of merit might include a demonstration of excellence in an Architectural Design related course, community service projects relating to planning or design, or participation in a workplace internship. This year’s Merit Book Awards went to: Owen Hunt, ConVal High School; Nicholas Swedberg, InterLakes High School; Ivana Vidovic, Salem High School; and Danielle Zamarchi, Portsmouth High School.
The Scholarships and Merit Book Awards were presented at a joint Plan New Hampshire-AIANH Awards evening at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, NH.
