Bangor, ME – The Cross Family, founders and owners of Cross Insurance has been named the recipient of this year’s Major Achievements in Construction Award from the Associated General Contractors of Maine (AGC Maine) for their efforts to advance the construction industry in the Pine Tree State.
The Cross Family is the first family to receive AGC Maine’s highest honor, which has traditionally been presented to an individual. Cross Insurance Agency President Royce Cross will accept the award during AGC Maine’s annual summer outing at Point Lookout in Northport, Maine Saturday, Aug. 10 on behalf of the entire Cross Insurance family, which includes 96-year-old patriarch and Founder Woodrow Cross, Executive Vice President Brent Cross, and Executive Vice President Jonathan Cross.
“I am truly honored to accept this prestigious award on behalf of my entire family,” said Royce Cross. “For nearly 60 years we have prided ourselves on not only fulfilling the needs of our customers but aiding Maine’s thriving construction sector as well.”
Since 1975, the MAC Award has been given to Maine residents who have exceeded business excellence and outstanding performance expectations as an industry advocate focused on advancing the construction industry. Previous winners have included Maine construction legends Bud Cianchette, Al Bancroft and Jim Martin.
“Maine’s economy is driven by family businesses. Success earned by the hard work of the Cross Family is evident by their visible growth. That success is truly built by determination of the entire Cross Insurance team,” said AGC Maine CEO Matthew Marks. “We applaud their continued achievements, and are proud to call them members.”
AGC Maine’s annual summer outing, which lasts from Aug. 9 – 11 at Point Lookout, will be attended by contractors throughout Maine and also includes family sports activities, a scavenger hunt, and a lobster bake.
