Acentech Welcomes New Consulting and Professional Staff

Cambridge, Mass – Acentech Inc., a nationally recognized multi-disciplinary acoustical consulting firm, is proud to announce new staff in its Cambridge headquarters and Westlake Village, California office.

Building on the firm’s architectural acoustics expertise, Acentech is excited to include Matthew Azevedo’s acoustical education and experience, and Nicole S. Cuff’s, PE, LEED AP BD+C, knowledge of building design to the Cambridge office. Aaron Bétit has joined Acentech to expand the firm’s architectural acoustics presence in the Southern California area. Ethan R. Brush brings his knowledge of vibration and sound measurements as a senior vibration consultant in Cambridge. Acentech also welcomes Thomas E. Lynott as Controller/Chief Financial Officer in the Cambridge office.

Matthew Azevedo ~ Consultant in Architectural Acoustics and Mechanical Systems

Mr. Azevedo brings an extensive range of teaching and recording talents plus experience as an audio engineer, mastering engineer and musician to his role of acoustician at Acentech. He has a wide variety of interests ranging from recording facilities, classroom acoustics, and residential facilities to corporate environments. His consulting projects focus on architectural acoustics, sound isolation, and acoustical measurement. He received a Master of Science in Architectural Sciences with a concentration in Architectural Acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor of Music in Sound Recording Technology from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He has taught courses in acoustics, audio production, and circuit design at Boston University, the University of Massachusetts, and Harvard Extension School. Mr. Azevedo is an active composer and musician in the Boston area.

Aaron Bétit ~ Senior Consultant in Architectural Acoustics and Mechanical Systems

Mr. Bétit has spent the last 13 years in Southern California managing a wide variety of projects including a number of landmark buildings, corporate headquarters, and environmental projects. His acoustical experience includes consulting during ground-up design as well as providing diagnostic advice for existing facilities and structures with acoustical complications. As a senior consultant, Mr. Bétit has provided acoustical design advice and direction for a variety of projects including theaters, studios, education facilities, performance spaces, as well as healthcare, commercial, public, and residential construction. His environmental noise expertise includes acoustical design and computer modeling of power plants, roadways, warning sirens, and water treatment plants. Mr. Bétit received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with an emphasis in Acoustics and Music from the University of Hartford.

Ethan R. Brush ~ Senior Consultant in Noise and Vibration

Drawing from his background in vibration data acquisition and analysis, Mr. Brush has a wide range of experience in structural dynamics. His expertise includes technical projects with dynamic testing and analysis for aerospace and defense applications, as well as studies at university research laboratories. At Acentech, Mr. Brush focuses on real-time remote monitoring systems for construction-related noise and vibration near sensitive facilities. He also applies his sound and vibration testing skills to product noise studies. Mr. Brush received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Maine, Orono.

Nicole S. Cuff, PE, LEED AP BD+C ~ Consultant in Architectural Acoustics and Mechanical Systems

Ms. Cuff’s mechanical engineering experience is extensive, ranging from multi-million dollar lifestyle centers, sports complexes, and universities to hospital and residential projects. Having served as Principal Engineer in earlier roles, she was responsible for all review, signing, and sealing of drawings and specifications for the mechanical department, and correcting for code compliance, project applicability, and appropriateness. Her responsibilities included complete mechanical project engineering from schematic design to coordination of working drawings through construction administration. At Acentech, her project focus lies in mechanical system noise control, vibration isolation, sound isolation, and room acoustics. Ms Cuff’s projects include room acoustics, interior noise control, and environmental noise control with a specialty in noise and vibration control for mechanical systems in vibration sensitive spaces. A member of the Acoustical Society of America and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning, Ms. Cuff received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.

Thomas E. Lynott ~ Controller/Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Lynott joins Acentech as Controller/Chief Financial Officer responsible for the accounting and financial functions of Acentech. Prior to joining Acentech, Mr. Lynott was the owner of AEC Resources, LLC, a consulting firm providing financial management and accounting services to clients in the architecture/engineering industry. He also specialized in the selection and implementation of project management accounting systems. Previously, Mr. Lynott was the controller for Guertin Elkerton & Associates, Inc., a Boston-based civil engineering firm. Mr. Lynott received a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine.
